Dr. Josh Ruxin outside of a health clinic in Rwamagana, Rwanda. The site is one of 37 he’s helped to open and manage across the country. By Colleen Flaherty, Press Correspondent of the Ridgefield Press
"Josh Ruxin wasn’t a typical 15-year-old. After hearing of the Ethiopian famine of 1984, he founded Ridgefield Efforts at Crushing Hunger (REACH), a student relief movement. By the time he graduated from RHS in 1988, Josh had traveled to Ethiopia to see the ground efforts there, and his organization had branches across the country.Fittingly, Dr. Josh Ruxin isn’t your typical adult. Nor is he your typical academic. Or public health worker. Or businessperson. Dr. Ruxin is a rare blend of all these things, and he is currently focusing his skills on the development of sustainable health care systems in Rwanda, where he moved 18 months ago."
