UCL set to dominate EAC as shares gain

"KAMPALA, UGANDA- Uganda Clays Limited (UCL) is looking to buy a majority stake in a Rwandan tiles firm, alongside the factory being built in Eastern Uganda.


If achieved, UCL's entrance into Rwanda will see the firm snap up the Burundi and DR Congo markets, as it moves towards a regional dominance of the tiles business with demand for the company products still surpassing supply by huge margins, according to a new report.


"They are still under negotiations with the Rwandan firm and they (UCL) do not want to reveal it," said Anita Matovu, a broker from MBEA Brokerages services."
