Rwanda: Young Kenyans in $200,000 Investment

A group of Kenyans below the age of 40 on Monday told President Paul Kagame that they have identified projects in the country where they want to invest up to $200,000 (about Rwf 100million).

The 26 Kenyans under a holdings company LK40 said they have decided to invest in Rwanda due to its 'determined leadership' to raise the standards of its people. The delegation had paid a courtesy call on the President.

According to Mr. Emmanuel Hategeka - Executive Secretary of the Private Sector Federation, the young investors will establish a nursing school and a vocational institute - aimed at tackling the skills gap in the country.

SFB to introduce new programme

"The School of Finance and Banking (SFB) is to introduce a new academic programme in Economics. The move is part of the school’s efforts to transform into a fully fledged Business School that can develop vital appropriate skills required to sustain Rwanda and its citizens.

In an interview, Prof. Krishna K. Govender, the school’s Rector, said economics was part and parcel of every business.

“The entire economy depends on economic principles. Therefore, in order to realise economic development, citizens need to be enriched in economics,’ Govender explained."

WDI and Goldman Sachs Team Up to Help Women in Rwanda

"The William Davidson Institute will help provide scholarships and business training to Rwandan women as part of Goldman Sachs' 10,000 Women initiative.

ANN ARBOR, Mich.—The William Davidson Institute has announced a new partnership with The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to bring business education to Rwandan women who have traditionally been denied opportunities in schooling and business.

On March 5, the global banking firm kicked off a new initiative called 10,000 Women. It will provide 10,000 women, predominantly in developing and emerging markets around the world, with a business education. WDI, housed at the Ross School of Business, is one of a select group of leading institutions and business schools partnering with Goldman Sachs."

Rwanda: Riam Launches Post Graduate Diploma Studies

Rwanda: Frw50m for On-Line Exam Results Project

"Kigali - The Rwanda National Examinations Council (RNEC) has earmarked Frw50 million for a three-year project proposal for an 'Online Publication Exams Results.'

In this system, examination results will be released via emails or posted on RNEC's Web site where schools would easily receive their students' results on time. In an interview, RNEC Executive Secretary John Rutayisire said the system would solve transport problems for some school directors who used to travel long distances to pick results at the council headquarters. "Some school directors have been coming from Gisenyi, Cyangugu and many other farthest places in the country to take their students' results. We want to make it easier for them through this ICT System." Rutayisire said.""
