MTN cuts call tariffs by 60 percent

"KIGALI, RWANDA - MTN Rwanda has slightly reduced all call tariffs for the first time since its launch in 1998. Local and international tariffs have been slashed by 35% and 60% respectively.

Officials said here last week that the move would allow the company to grow its subscriber base by 30% this year.

However, Short Message Service (SMS) charges have not been changed. A local sms costs Rwf53 ($0.096)."
