SA firm could win Rwanda’s CRB deal

By Bosco Hitimana of The EABW

"KIGALI, RWANDA – Compuscan, a South African based credit bureau could easily take up Rwanda’s offer to establish the country’s Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

The much needed bureau, to be run under the private sector, once established, will respond to the World Bank's doing business report 2008 as well as assist in reducing bad debts and fraud.

The representatives of the company were recently in Rwanda to deliver presentations on how CRBs work and why the country must have one. The one day specialist workshop sponsored by the Rwanda Enterprise Investment Company (REIC), a venture capital firm, attracted delegates from national bank, Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency (RIEPA), senior executives of commercial banks and micro finance lenders as well as other key industry stakeholders."
