EAC states start talks for regional Common Market

By FRANCIS AYIEKO Special Correspondent of The East African

"Negotiations on the establishment of the East African Community Common Market have kicked off with partner states pledging to beat the January 2010 launch deadline.

But Rwanda, one of the newly admitted EAC members, has cautioned that the success of the negotiations and the entire integration process hinges on “bold commitment” by partner states.

Opening the inaugural meeting of the High Level Task Force on the Negotiations for the East African Common Market in Kigali, Rwanda, on April 14, Rwanda’s Minister for East Africa Community Affairs, Monique Mukaruliza, asked partner states to be dedicated to the regional union."
