"Industrial and General Insurance Plc has broadened its African footprint with the acquisition of 35 per cent majority stake in Society Nouvelle d’Assurance du Rwanda, the country’s biggest insurance company for about $4m.
Announcing the deal at a formal ceremony in Kigali, Rwanda on Wednesday, Executive Vice Chairman, IGI, Mr. Remi Olowude, said the acquisition was an opportunity for IGI to contribute to the progress of Rwanda‘s economy.
“Our partnership with Sonarwa is in line with our stated goal of expanding in the continent while helping to develop their economies,” he said."
